Location

The role is based in Jakhu Hills, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Candidates are expected to be located in or near Shimla or open to relocation. Daily commuting to our office is required.

About the Role

As a Software Engineer at MountainKid AI, you’ll build cutting-edge systems that empower communities across Himachal Pradesh. You’ll work on rfSE Club, developing edtech solutions to teach 10th-12th graders first-principles thinking, programming, and more. You’ll also contribute to Sari, our health app, and other projects tackling food, tourism, and agriculture challenges. This role involves writing high-quality code, optimizing algorithms, and collaborating with a small, dynamic team to drive impact.

Focus

• Develop and optimize edtech systems for rfSE Club, including live-class platforms and small language models for automated learning support.
• Build and maintain Sari, our health app, ensuring seamless user experiences for community health solutions.
• Design algorithms for agriculture and tourism projects, such as crop yield optimization or tourist recommendation systems using AI and blockchain.
• Deploy scalable systems to support internet-scale datasets for education and health initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to integrate AI solutions into real-world applications.

Ideal Experience

• Extensive experience in Rust and Python, with a focus on building scalable systems.
• Strong background in AI, particularly small language models or machine learning for edtech/health applications.
• Familiarity with blockchain for secure data management (e.g., in agriculture or health).
• Experience with distributed systems and infrastructure for real-time applications.
• Ability to work independently, drive projects, and thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Interview Process

After submitting your application, our team will review your CV and statement of exceptional work. If you pass this stage, you’ll be invited to a 15-minute phone interview to discuss your experience. If you clear this, you’ll enter the main process, which includes:

• Coding assessment in Rust or Python.
• Systems hands-on: Solve a real-world problem in a live session.
• Project deep-dive: Present your past work to our team.
• Meet and greet with the MountainKid AI team.

We aim to complete the main process within one week. All interviews will be conducted via Google Meet.

Annual Salary Range

₹8,00,000 - ₹12,00,000 INR (Salary will be incremented exponentially).
